Circular Innovation Jam 2020
The Circular Innovation Jam sought to develop inclusive, innovative solutions to advance local circular economies for plastics and effective waste management systems across South and Southeast Asia. Rather than “jamming” with music, we invited participants to jam with their ideas and unique insights to reduce ocean plastic pollution through this virtual design sprint.
Build Solutions, Reduce Plastic Pollution

Developing Inclusive Solutions For Regional Challenges
Our 430 participants focused on developing innovations and prototypes for our regional challenge statements: reuse models and packaging, waste systems, and waterways. Such complex challenges require diverse mindsets and expertise to solve them.
The Circular Innovation Jam offers a platform for rapid collaboration among diverse participants within a local context. These jam sessions welcome problem-solving by local citizens and organizations, and seek to design with the very people who know and interact with the issues across the five target countries—Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Philippines and Thailand.

The Winners
Each winner received US$5,000 worth of support to continue developing their businesses, and create greater impact in local waste management and recycling systems.

The Finalists
After the Virtual Design Sprint, 25 teams from the five target countries were selected to join a 4-week Idea Refinement phase where they were supported by 75 mentors.
